Use these steps on a Windows computer, Mac, or Chromebook when a website will not load or sign in correctly. Save your work first. Clearing cookies may sign you out of websites.

Clear cookies and cache

  1. Open Chrome. Select the three-dot menu at the top right, then Delete browsing data.
  2. Set Time range to All time.
  3. Select only these two checkboxes:
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files
Leave all other boxes unchecked. You do not need to delete browsing history, passwords, or autofill information.
  4. Select Delete data and wait for it to finish.
  5. Fully close and reopen Chrome, or restart your computer. On a Mac, use Chrome > Quit Google Chrome or Command-Q; the red window button alone may leave Chrome running.
  6. Open the website again and sign in if asked.

Update Chrome

Windows and Mac: Open the three-dot menu > Help > About Google Chrome. Wait while Chrome checks for updates, then select Relaunch if offered. If an update is blocked or fails, contact IT.

Chromebook: Chrome updates with ChromeOS. Follow Update a Chromebook.
