Chromebooks download updates automatically when connected to the internet. Restarting finishes the installation. Save your work before restarting.
Check for updates
- Connect to Wi-Fi and plug the Chromebook into power.
- Select the time at the bottom right, then open Settings.
- Select About ChromeOS > Check for updates.
- Wait for any update to download, then select Restart when offered.
If you cannot update
District management may control available updates. If an update fails or the device says it no longer receives updates, students should ask their teacher. Staff can contact the Help Desk with the message and device serial number.
Chrome on a Windows PC or Mac
In Chrome, open the three-dot menu and choose Help > About Google Chrome. Follow any update or relaunch prompt.
