Projector Not Working or Showing a Warning Light

BSD has newer Epson laser projectors and older Epson and Dell lamp-based projectors. Warning lights mean different things on different models.

Start here

  1. Check that the projector is on and the correct input is selected. If it says No Signal, check the laptop, dock, and accessible video cables.
  2. Note the projector model, the names and colors of any warning lights, and whether each light is solid or flashing. Take a photo from a safe location if possible.
  3. If the projector has overheated, leave it off to cool. Keep nearby objects clear of vents. Ask IT to check filters or equipment you cannot safely reach.

Do not climb to reach a mounted projector or open its case or lamp compartment. If you notice smoke, a burning smell, or a loud pop, stop using it and contact IT promptly. Do not repeatedly power it on.

Newer Epson laser models

The district’s newest models include the Epson EB-L210W and BrightLink EB-760Wi. These use a laser light source, not a replaceable classroom lamp.

A flashing blue Status light can indicate startup or shutdown, so wait for it to finish. For a Laser or Temp warning, turn the projector off and contact IT with the complete light pattern. If it overheated and shut down, allow at least five minutes to cool. Do not keep restarting it if the warning returns.

Older Dell and Epson lamp-based models

A lamp warning, dim picture, or a lamp that will not turn on may need IT service. Do not use the newer Epson laser light codes to diagnose these models.

Report the exact model and light pattern. IT will check the matching manual before replacing a lamp or resetting a timer. There is no single power-button reset sequence that applies to every district projector.
