Include your device’s serial number when requesting IT help.
Find it in Windows
- Open Start > Settings > System > About.
- Under Device specifications, find Device name.
BSD uses the serial number as the device name on most Windows computers. Food Services and some purpose-built computers are exceptions. For those devices, or if you are unsure, use the physical serial-number label instead.
Find the label
Look for Serial, Serial number, or S/N on the bottom of a laptop or on the desktop computer’s case. Use the computer’s label, not the monitor’s. Do not move or unmount equipment to reach it; ask IT for help.
