For K-2 and SPED classes on iPad

Teach from your BSD MacBook using your district Managed Apple Account. Apple Classroom does not run on Windows laptops. Each K-2 student has an assigned iPad; the Shared iPad steps below apply only where Shared iPad is configured.

The rule: Apple Classroom is your only in-class tool on iPads. Linewize filters the web in the background but has no classroom controls on iPad, so website access is set by the district ahead of time. Students browse in Chrome only.

Before class: four checks

  1. Bluetooth on for your device and every student iPad (no Airplane Mode).
  2. District Wi-Fi for everyone: no hotspots, no guest network.
  3. Signed in with the student's district Managed Apple Account.
  4. Up to date: install pending iPadOS updates.

A class period on iPad

  1. Start: open your assigned class and check everyone shows online. If a class or student is missing, submit a Help Desk ticket. On configured Shared iPads, students tap their name and enter their passcode.
  2. Launch: Open the app or Chrome and lock students in it. For a website, use the district Chrome bookmarks or your Google Classroom link.
  3. Close: end the class and glance at the Class Summary. Only on configured Shared iPads, sign students out so the device is ready.

The whole class shows offline Check your own device first: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
A screen unlocked by itself Expected when the iPad leaves Bluetooth range; lock again
A site you need is blocked, or Screens is greyed out Submit a Help Desk ticket before the lesson; there is no in-class fix on iPad

Still stuck? Submit a Help Desk ticket with school, room, class period, asset tag, student name (never a password), what you tried, and a screenshot (top button + volume up).
