Your school websites and Google account still work in Chrome. Use this guide to find familiar tools on your new Mac or iPad.

Open your school work

Open Chrome and sign in to school websites with your district Google account. Use BSD MyApps (ClassLink) for school resources. Files already saved in district Google Drive are available when you sign in.

Macs run macOS. iPads run iPadOS. Files saved in Downloads are not automatically saved to district Google Drive. Upload files you need to keep.

Try these controls

Use Command + C to copy and Command + V to paste on a Mac or the iPad keyboard.

On a Mac, click with two fingers for a right-click menu and slide two fingers to scroll.

On an iPad, use the keyboard Home key or swipe up from the bottom to return to the Home Screen.

Understand the Mac window buttons

An Apple example window with the red X Close button, yellow minus Minimize button, and green Full Screen button. Hovering over green shows window layout options.

Find these buttons at the top left of most Mac windows. Image: Apple Support.

Red X: closes this window. The app may keep running.

Yellow minus: minimizes the window to the Dock. Click it in the Dock to bring it back.

Green: enters full screen in most apps. Hover over it for more window layouts.

To quit the app completely, click the app, then press Command + Q. In Chrome, a tab’s X closes only that tab.

Get approved apps

Open Mosyle School on iPad or Manager on Mac, then choose My Apps. Students can install available apps. If an app is missing, students should ask their teacher; teachers can submit an app request.

Mosyle My Apps installs apps. BSD MyApps (ClassLink) opens school websites.
