Per the Idaho Rule and the Code of Ethics for Idaho Professional Educators (08.02.02.076(03)) and Boise School District’s policies the following platforms are approved for staff-to-student communication:

  • ParentSquare
  • Hudl
  • District Email
  • Infinite Campus (IC) Messaging
  • Rank One
  • Google Classroom
  • Seesaw
  • Edmentum
  • Linewize Classroom Manager
  • Feedback/Comment Features in District-Provided Tools
  • District Approved Curriculum Platforms
  • Smarty Tracker
  • SportsYou

These platforms provide appropriate oversight, transparency, record retention, and accountability for educational, extracurricular, and athletic communications.

Staff should not use personal email accounts, personal text messaging, social media direct messaging, or other non-approved communication applications to communicate with students unless specifically authorized by district administration for a unique circumstance. If a student reaches out through an unapproved method, staff should only reply through an approved platform.

All communications with students should remain professional, school-related, and consistent with district policy, state law and rule, and the Idaho Code of Ethics for Idaho Professional Educators.

Boise School District recognizes that technology and communication platforms continue to evolve. Staff members who believe a communication platform should be considered for district approval should consult with district administration before using the platform for student communication.

Questions regarding approved communication methods or specific communication situations should be directed to your supervisor or through a ticket to IT Department at support.boiseschools.org.
