Dear Boise School District Staff,
As mentioned last May, GoGuardian, our District Internet filter, has a new feature that blocks all uncategorized websites. Unfortunately, this means that many legitimate sites teachers use for instruction are being blocked. Since GoGuardian has not categorized a large number of these sites, they are currently inaccessible. We are unable to turn off this feature without also unblocking uncategorized adult content. We apologize for any disruption this may cause to your teaching and student learning.
Quick Steps to Resolve Site Blocking Issues:
-
Override a Blocked Site for Your Class Session:
- You can immediately override blocked sites for your students for the duration of your GoGuardian Teacher session.
- Instructions for Overriding a Blocked Site.
-
Permanently Unblock a Site:
- Submit a help desk ticket to review and unblock the site until GoGuardian categorizes it.
- Our team will review the site for privacy and security and then, if safe, manually unblock the site until it is categorized by GoGuardian.
- Submit a Ticket Here or email support@boiseschools.org.
-
Check Site Access Before Class:
- Use the GoGuardian Teacher Website Checker to see if a site will be blocked.
- How to Check if a Site is Blocked.
