Secure Print
First Time Set-up:
- Windows
- Click the start button on your taskbar and search for “Devices and Printers”.
- Once open, look through the devices to find the copier you are searching for and right click on it.
- Click on “Printer Properties”.
- Click on the “Device Settings” tab at the top of the properties screen.
- Make sure that “Allow User of Secured Print” or “Secure Printing Function of Device” is selected.
- Click “OK” to save settings.
- MacOS:
- Click the Spotlight button on the top taskbar of your Mac
- Type in “Printers and Scanners” and click to open
- Find your Canon Copier and click on “Options & Supplies”
- Click on the “Options” button at the top of the box
- Find the “Output Options” drop-down list and select “Secure Print”
- Click “Ok” and Secure Print will be ready to use
Printing Use:

- Open the document that is needing to be printed and select “Print” to open the print dialog box.
- Once the print dialog box is open, click on the copier and find the “Preferences” option to click on.
- In the Printing Preferences box, make sure you are on the “Basic Settings” tab and find the “Output Method”.
- Click on the drop down list in the “Output Method” and make sure that “Secured Print” is selected.
- You will be greeted with a dialog box stating what is shown below:
- If you select “Yes”, this will save your information so that next time you will just need to enter the same username and PIN to be able to print.
- If you select “No”, this will prompt you to enter a one time document name, username and PIN to use for that specific print.
- Choose whatever option is needed for the document.
- Secure print only saves the documents to the copier queue for 30 minutes before deleting them.
- Head to the copier and find “Secure Print” on the copier menu.
- Select the documents needing to be printed.
- They will have the document names displayed on the copier screen.
- Select the Username that was set in the “Select User” screen.
- Enter the PIN set for the user or document.
- Click “Apply” and printing should start.
